This Costa Rican tea recipe is light, refreshing, and meant to help keep your hunger at bay while adding a tropical twist to your day. It’s cozy, low-calorie, and super easy to make—whether you're lookin’ for a hot cup or a cool sip over ice.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, sliced

½ tablespoon fresh turmeric (or ½ teaspoon ground)

1 cinnamon stick

¼ cup fresh mint leaves

⅓ cup pineapple

1 cup water

1 Lemon Verbena tea bag (tag removed)

Optional: 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Optional: 1 lemon slice

Optional: honey, to taste

Instructions

  1. Add ginger, turmeric, mint, pineapple, water, and the tea bag to a medium pot.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer on low heat.
  3. Once it starts to bubble lightly, take it off the heat and cover.
  4. Let everything steep for about 10 minutes.
  5. Strain into a mug and add any optional ingredients.
  6. Enjoy hot, or chill and serve over ice later.

Notes

  • If you’re makin’ this ahead for iced tea, just pop it in a mason jar, toss it in the fridge, and sip when you’re ready.
  • Apple cider vinegar and lemon give this drink a little extra "oomph" for fat-burning vibes, but totally optional.
  • Goes real nice with a slice of cucumber or a sprig of rosemary too—play around!
