If you are a non-native English speaker, you might have been thinking about learning English<\/a>. There are many reasons why it would be great to learn English<\/a>. But with all the resources available, how can you actually make sure that your decision is the right one? This article will help you understand what makes learning difficult and which factors influence how quickly or slowly a person will learn a new language.<\/p>\n

Is English hard to learn<\/a>? <\/span>Learning a new language like English<\/a> is not an easy task, but do you know why English is hard?<\/p>\n

Do you know why English is a difficult language?<\/h3>\n

Many people think that English is easy. But this is what they sometimes do not realize 100%.
\nIf you are an average speaker of the language, like most non-native speakers, English learning<\/span><\/a> can take a very long time indeed. I would be surprised if anyone had learned to speak and write English perfectly after just 200 hours of lessons.<\/p>\n

There are many reasons WHY it’s often difficult to learn a new language, even easy ones like Spanish. But there are also some things that make these languages really hard or easier for us native speakers.<\/p>\n

The first reason is:<\/h4>\n

How many words in the language do we already know? If you haven’t studied English<\/a> for a long time and only read and listened to it in school (or other programs) because your native language lacks them, it is very hard.<\/p>\n

The second reason is:<\/h4>\n

How many expressions exist in the language? This is a very important issue because learners must establish connections with some common concepts. Often, they don’t think about if their sentences are clear enough or defined pretty well and so they will have a hard time figuring this out for themselves.<\/p>\n

The third reason is:<\/h4>\n

How many structures exist? Many English<\/a> expressions are constructed using very seldom used syntactic forms. This is usually the hardest part to learn because agents do not know them at all and there’s no book recommendation available until after 100 hours of language learning lessons (or even longer).<\/p>\n

So the question we must ask is what makes the English<\/a> language easy to learn?
\nAlthough some aspects like pronunciation or vocabulary seem to cause problems for both native and non-native speakers, the major players here are actually grammar (what you can say) and structures (how it’s put together).<\/p>\n

Things make learning English easy<\/h3>\n

1- On the vocabulary side:<\/h4>\n

You already know enough of them! Although this often makes the problems more complicated, it’s still really helpful because you don’t have to create new words. But if another native speaker misses these, their language will take longer to become fluent in English<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2- On the grammar side:<\/h4>\n

You have a solid base to build from. In contrast with most other European languages, English<\/a> doesn’t contain many irregular verbs or conjugations and so basic learning might be very easy for you because all your main structures are already in place.<\/p>\n

3- On the spelling and English pronunciation side:<\/h4>\n

This too greatly increases your chances of becoming a fluent speaker: Language learners often find it hard to master syntax because they’re not sure how to use certain structures or learn new words, but grammar is so obvious that few learners even notice it. Nobody speaks the English<\/a> language perfectly by itself, but there is no aspect that causes problems for most people.<\/p>\n

4- On the pace side:<\/h4>\n

The learning rate can be easily accelerated by using flashcards. This makes it easier to learn alone, which means that you’ll have plenty of effective ‘brain dump’ at hand all along your study period. When seeing someone speaking English<\/a> confidently on TV shows, they’re most likely using their own memorized vocabulary and grammar structures.<\/p>\n
