My name is Raya, and I am 20 years old. I come from England, but I live in the United States of America. I study computer engineering. It is what I have wanted since I was a little kid because I am fond of technology and computers. I live with my family. We are a small family that includes my father, my mother, and my two sisters. I love my family and our cozy house very much. I spent a great deal of my childhood in the backyard, where we used to play hide and seek, have parties, and prepare barbeque. I also like the neighborhood where a lot of kids used to live, so we used to spend our days together playing and sometimes fighting. As you can see, I am a compassionate person who loves everything around me, starting with people and ending with places. My best friend, Tala, says that I am funny too. She says that I spread joy and laughter wherever I go. I don’t know if she is right or wrong, but I am happy to have her in my life. My father says that I am extremely organized. My room is always tidy and clean. My clothes are always elegant and ironed. I love to wear colourful clothes. They make me feel joyful and give me positive energy.

اسمي ريا، وعمري 20 عاماً. أنا من إنكلترا لكنني أعيش في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. أدرس هندسة الكمبيوتر، وهي ما أردته منذ أن كنت طفلة صغيرة، إذ كنت مولعة بالتكنولوجيا والحواسيب. أعيش مع عائلتي. عائلتنا صغيرة تتكون من أبي، وأمي، وأختين. أحب عائلتي، كما أحب منزلنا الحميمي جداً. قضيت طفولة رائعة في الفناء الخلفي حيث كنا نلعب الغميضة، ونقيم الحفلات، ونحضر اللحم المشوي. كما أحب الحي الذي نقطنه، إذ كان يعيش فيه الكثير من الأطفال لذلك اعتدنا قضاء أيامنا معاً نلعب أو نتعارك أحياناً. كما ترون، أنا شخص حنون أحب كل شيء من حولي، بدءاً من الأشخاص وصولاً إلى الأماكن. تقول صديقتي تالا أنني مضحكة أيضاً، وأنني أنشر البهجة والضحك أينما حللت. لا أعلم إن كانت محقة أم مخطئة، لكني يسعدني وجودها في حياتي. يقول أبي أنني منظمة بصورة كبيرة. غرفتي مرتبة ونظيفة دائماً. ملابسي مكوية وأنيقة دائماً. أحب ارتداء الملابس الملونة، فهي تشعرني بالبهجة وتعطيني طاقة إيجابية.

My sisters say that I am mom’s favourite child and that she spoils me with love and gifts. I don’t think they’re right because she loves all three of us the same. They also believe that I am successful and outgoing since I get high scores in college and have a lot of friends. Let me tell you what I think about myself. I believe that I am a strong girl who knows what she wants and tries her best to achieve it. I have worked hard for all of my life, in school, in relationships, and at work. I am smart and know how to use it to get somewhere in life. I also believe that I am going to be a successful engineer because I am totally passionate about it.

تقول أختاي أنني الفتاة المفضلة لدى أمي، وأنها تفسدني بالحب والهدايا. لا أعتقد أنهما محقتان لأنها تحبنا نحن الثلاثة بالقدر نفسه. تعتقدان أيضاً أنني ناجحة ومنفتحة لأنني أحرز درجات عالية في الجامعة ولأن لدي الكثير من الأصدقاء. دعوني أخبركم بصورتي عن نفسي. أعترف أنني فتاة قوية تعرف ما تريد وتبذل قصارى جهدها لتحقيقه. عملت جاهدة طوال حياتي في المدرسة، وفي العلاقات، وفي العمل. أنا ذكية وأعرف كيف أوظف ذكائي لتحقيق هدفي في الحياة. كما أعتقد أنني سأكون مهندسة ناجحة لأنني شغوفة جداً بذلك.

Let me tell you what I look like. I am tall and fit. I do sports three times a week and run every morning. I am really active and hate to act lazily. I only eat healthy food to stay in shape. I have a baby face, which makes everyone confused when they know that I am 20 years old. My eyes are green, and my skin is white. I have long, light brown hair that I usually have in a ponytail. I look energetic and enthusiastic all the time.

Omar is kind-hearted and helpful. He always offers help with homework and explains math to me since I am not really good at it. Majed is the fun one. He always invites us to his place, where we spend great times together playing cards, playing video games, watching movies, and listening to music.

I prefer classical music like Om Kulthum and Abdul-Wahab. My friends say that I am old-school and boring, but it does not matter. I am really funny and sarcastic. I always tell good jokes and make everyone around me laugh. People think I am crazy because I laugh a lot, but that is not true; it is just me being myself. My hobbies are playing music, reading, and going camping. I go camping once a month with my cousins in the desert. We stay in small tents and discover new places. I believe it is one of the greatest hobbies of all because it takes you out of your daily routine and into a whole new world. Reading plays an important role in my life. My brothers say that I am a bookworm, and that is totally true. My favourite kinds of books are thrillers and mysteries, such as Agatha Christie’s. I recommend that every teenager starts reading because it gives them a chance to explore new worlds while sitting at home. It also improves your language and enriches your vocabulary.

نسيت أن أخبركم أنني موسيقي. أعزف العود منذ أن كنت في السابعة من عمري. أعزف مع فرقة، ونؤدي عروضاً على المسارح. الموسيقا شغفي، وأستمع إليها طوال الوقت. أفضل الموسيقا الكلاسيكية مثل أم كلثوم وعبد الوهاب. يقول أصدقائي أنني قديم الطراز وممل، لكن لا يهمني ذلك. أنا مضحك جداً وأحب السخرية. ألقي النكات المضحكة دوماً، وأضحك كل من حولي. يظن الناس أنني مجنون لأنني أضحك كثيراً، لكن ليس هذا صحيحاً، فأنا أتصرف على سجيتي فحسب. هواياتي هي العزف، والقراءة والتخييم. أذهب إلى التخييم مرة شهرياً مع أولاد عمي في الصحراء. نقيم في خيم صغيرة، ونكتشف أماكن جديدة. أعتقد أنها الهواية الأفضل على الإطلاق لأنها تسحبك من روتينك اليومي وتنقلك إلى عالم جديد تماماً. تلعب القراءة دوراً هاماً في حياتي. يقول أخواي أنني أقرأ بشراهة، وهذا صحيح تماماً. أفضل كتب التشويق والألغاز، مثل كتب أغاثا كريستي. أنصح كل مراهق أن يبدأ المطالعة لأنها تتيح لك فرصة لاستكشاف عوالم جديدة بينما تجلس في منزلك. كما تحسن لغتك وتغني مفرداتك.
